Automatic car hire at Zadar Airport

How do I find an automatic at Zadar Airport?

Enter your travel dates and set the automatic filter. Transmission is shown on each car and is not inferred from the class name.

Most cars bookable at Zadar are based at the airport; the rest are at a rental office in town, which delivers to the airport for a fee shown before payment. The price is shown on each car for the dates entered, and the rules behind the full rental cost, including the 24-hour minimum charge, are the same for an automatic as for a manual.

Does the driving around Zadar really need one?

The rental terms for Croatia set no transmission requirement. Rental cars may travel only on paved public roads, whatever the gearbox. By car, the drive to Plitvice Lakes takes 2 h 15 from Zadar Airport (145 km), and both main park entrances are on the D429 state road.

Krka (Skradin) is 50 minutes from Zadar Airport and Split 1 h 45. The A1 motorway serving Zadar is tolled by distance, with a ticket taken at the entry toll plaza and paid at the exit.

What does a search for an automatic show?

A search shows the cars bookable for your dates at the time you search. Free cancellation is shown on each car before you pay, and not every car offers it. Seats and transmission are both shown on each car, so a car with more than five seats and an automatic gearbox can be checked on one listing.

What should I compare besides the gearbox?

Seats, deposit, mileage limit and free cancellation are shown on each car, alongside the transmission. Some cars carry no deposit, and a car without a deposit shows that on its listing whatever its gearbox.

Where a car has a mileage limit, the listing shows it per day or for the whole rental. Plitvice Lakes is 145 km from Zadar Airport and Split is 144 km.

Space

The seat count is shown on each car.

Price

Shown for the dates and pickup entered.

Deposit

Shown on each car; the card rules are stated during booking and in the voucher.

What should I check on the car itself?

The transmission is shown on the car you intend to book. Minimum age and driving experience are listed on each car and can vary even between similar models, and the rental agent may refuse the car if a driver does not meet them.

The main driver needs a valid national driving licence with its details in Latin script, and its expiry date must be no earlier than the end of the rental. Copies and electronic licences are not accepted. An International Driving Permit is strongly recommended if the licence is valid only in the country that issued it. The fuel rule, the paved-roads rule and permission to drive abroad are set out in what the rental agreement covers in Croatia, and they apply to an automatic as to any other car.

How do I compare a manual with an automatic?

Leaving the transmission filter unset shows every car bookable for your dates, with the gearbox stated on each.

Price, deposit, card requirement and free cancellation are shown per car, so a manual and an automatic for the same dates can be compared on the same fields.
